NNY Blog Post #4
We started some side projects like an ABC coloring book for kids, as an example I wrote “A is for Arepa. Alejandro ate an arepa in Astoria” and drew an arepa. Students did the same for other letters of the alphabet. Hopefully we will be able to finish the whole alphabet with everyone’s drawings and we can make copies for the community.
Some of us made some found word and collage poetry zines. We will share these in our final class.
This class was a working session on our vocabulary books and developing and sharing about our final projects. We have a variety of projects to share, some about food and recipes, some about flowers, and some about our lives and families. I’m very excited to see everyone’s final projects come together.
I also initiated a pen-pal letter exchange with people trying to learn Spanish. So for this week’s class we will focus on learning about the mail, postage systems and writing letters. We will also try to finish our coloring book and review the final drafts of our zine.
I’ve uploaded a bunch of worksheets here for anyone who would like some extra practice with some of the topics we’ve discussed so far. For any new students, here are folders with our previous homework assignments and all our vocabulary sheets
