Para celebrar juntos el año del Ratón en el calendario chino, este taller enseñó a los participantes a cómo crear una lámpara de papel estilo oriental hecho con sobres chinos de la suerte; Es una tradición china ofrecer sobres de la suerte como un símbolo de recibir suerte y prosperidad en el año nuevo, en este taller los participantes crearon una lámpara oriental como un gesto de bienvenida para todos los participantes de NNY para recibir el año del Ratón.
El taller se llevó a cabo en inglés, chino y español.
Instructor del taller: Maritza Wu ha sido una estudiante de NNY por más de 10 años. Actualmente es educadora del taller Creación de páginas web con el programa NNY y también es profesora en el Queensborough Community College. Además de ser profesora de Tecnología e Ingeniería, Maritza pasa su tiempo libre aprendiendo formas de vincular su conocimiento tecnológico con el arte. Aprendió a hacer las lámparas orientales con sobres de la suerte en su adolescencia, y desde entonces ha estado creando diferentes estilos de linterna en cada año nuevo chino. To celebrate the year of the Mouse on the Chinese calendar together, this workshop taught participants how to create an oriental-style paper lamp made with Chinese lucky envelopes; It is a Chinese tradition to offer lucky envelopes as a symbol of receiving luck and prosperity in the new year, in this workshop the participants created an oriental lamp as a welcome gesture for all NNY participants to receive the year of the Mouse.

Workshop instructor: Maritza Wu has been an NNY student for over 10 years. She is currently an educator of the web page creation workshop with the NNY program and is also a professor at Queensborough Community College. He learned to make oriental lamps with lucky envelopes in his teens, and since then he has been creating different styles of lantern in each Chinese New Year.
