Storyspinner
If your life would be a movie, what would be the title? This is how the workshop started. Later we learned the principles of storytelling. Participants worked on an individual 3 scenes storyboard with them as a hero. Drawing or writing the scene. One participant shared that the happiest she knows are those who survived the most hardships in life. She learned that there is always something to look forward to. Everything works out at the end, my mom and my nonna help me to realize that we can get through the bumps on the road.
Another participant shared how she overcame stage freight by reading books, and learning public speaking, she learned so much that now she can teach others to overcome fears, practice way ahead is the secret.
Then the class was divided into groups so they can combine their stories and did a large collage of their combined stories. Then each group got to use the story spinner and tell and share their stories. All the stories were about overcoming obstacles, public speaking, or a mother that was deaf or something that needs to be accomplished.
