Queridos New NewYorkers:
En esta sesión # 4 visitamos el Museo Leslie-Lohman of Gay and Lesbian Art. Esta visita fue muy enriquecedora ya que este Museo invita a cualquier comunidad a visitarlo.
Tuvimos una acogida muy gentil y amable de parte del personal del Museo y en especial del Director: Sr. Gonzalo Casals.
El director del Museo Sr. Casals nos dio una visita guiada en español, la cual fue muy interesante, informativa, e inspiradora.
Florencia Saavedra, en su comentario acerca de la visita: “Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art representa todo lo que la humanidad necesita hoy más que nunca: respeto, igualdad y libertad. Y aunque todos los seres humanos deberían tener estas tres cualidades sumamente adoptadas, no es así. Por eso nosotros como comunicadores y/o artistas (seamos profesionales o principiantes) debemos tomar estos conceptos y reflejarlos en nuestro trabajo constantemente. El Arte enseña, el arte cura, pero sobretodo el arte une.”
El Sr. Casals, empezó por enseñarnos la arquitectura, texto y símbolos que contiene fachada, luego procedió a compartir con nosotros tres obras más representativas del Museo. Se nos planteaban preguntas para reflexionar, pensar y expresar nuestras opiniones y vivencias personales. Por ejemplo sobre el texto:” Silence=Death ” Represión, por miedo se silencia uno mismo. Triangulo rosa apuntando hacia arriba: es una figura dinámica pero igualitaria, estable y positiva.
Nos hizo reflexionar a cerca de cuál es el poder de la imagen para hablar y para comunicar.

Escoger 1 obra del Museo Leslie-Lohman y reinterpretarla.
Dear New New Yorkers:
In this session # 4 we visited the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art. This visit was very enriching as this Museum invites any community to visit it. We had a very kind and friendly welcome from the staff of the Museum, especially from the Director: Mr. Gonzalo Casals.
Mr.Casals gave us a guided tour in Spanish, which was very interesting, informative and inspiring, as our classmate Florencia Saavedra said about our visit: “Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art represents everything that humanity needs today more than ever: respect, equality and freedom. And although all human beings should have these three qualities highly adopted, it is not so. That is why we as communicators and / or artists (whether we are professionals or beginners) must take these concepts and reflect them in our work constantly. Art teaches, art cures, but above all art unites.”
Mr.Casals began by showing us the architecture, text and symbols that contains the Museum’s front, and then he proceeded to share with us three more representative works of the Museum. We were asked questions to reflect, think and express our opinions and personal experiences. For example, on the text: “Silence = Death” Repression, for fear it silences itself. Pink triangle pointing upwards: it is a dynamic but egalitarian, stable and positive figure.
This visit made us think about the power of the image to speak and to communicate.
