Queridos New NewYorkers,
Les queremos agradecer el haber participado de este taller de acuarela; sobretodo agradecerles su buen trabajo, y ánimo positivo para trabajar cada clase, los que hicieron de este taller un éxito: gracias a todos y a cada uno de ustedes.
En esta última sesión tuvimos la oportunidad de aprender a hacer el rostro de un gato en un fondo de color. Para ello vimos un video, en el cual nos dieron pautas de cómo dibujar el rostro de un gato, teniendo en cuenta las proporciones y distancias entre las partes del mismo.
Luego el maestro nos hizo una demostración de cómo iniciar este trabajo artístico. Empezó por dibujar con color acuarelable los ojos del gato, luego ubico la nariz y las orejas. Así mismo nos recordó la importancia de tener en cuenta las proporciones del rostro a dibujar. Procedió a emplear la técnica de mojado sobre mojado para empezar por el fondo. Después empezó a trabajar cada parte del rostro, dando una primera capa de color suave, para poco a poco lograr colores y contrastes similares a los de la figura a color que teníamos como ejemplo a seguir en esta sesión.
Esta sesión fue muy especial ya que además teníamos la celebración y clausura de este taller.
Como parte de esta clausura se entregaron diplomas en reconocimiento a su gran desempeño y avances logrados en este taller. Luego se realizó una rifa con 3 premios, organizada por la Sra. Yamile Peña, a la cual agradecemos por esta buena idea que gusto tanto a los participantes.
Finalmente procedimos a compartir los bocaditos, comidas y bebidas que los estudiantes trajeron para compartir con sus compañeros. Fue una tarde muy agradable y de grato compartir en comunidad.
Veamos este fin de taller, no como un final; sino como un inicio de una nueva etapa, en la cual todos hemos aprendido y desarrollado un poco más nuestras habilidades artísticas. Es un inicio hacia mejor.
El Museo de Arte de Queens les agradece mucho su participación y desempeño en este taller, que como dije, no será el último, sino es el inicio de nuevos talleres que vendrán en un futuro. Les enviaremos la información de los mismo por email, nos despedimos entonces no con un adiós, si no con un hasta pronto!

Dear New New Yorkers,
We would like to thank you for having participated in this watercolor workshop; especially thank you for your good job, and positive attitude for each class, which made this workshop a success: thank you to everyone.
In this last session we had the opportunity to learn how to paint with watercolors a cat’s face in a colored background. We starting watching a video, in which we were given guidelines on how to draw a cat’s face, taking care about the proportions and distances between the parts of it.
Later, our teacher gave us a demonstration of how to start this artistic work. He began by drawing the cat’s eyes in watercolor, and then placed his nose and ears. Also reminded us the importance of taking care the proportions of the face to draw. Then he proceeded to use the wet- over-wet technique to start at the background.
After that he began to work each part of the face, giving a first layer of clear color, to gradually achieve colors and contrasts similar to those of an image that we had as an example to follow.
This session was very special, due we also had the celebration and closing of this workshop.
As a part of this closure, diplomas were awarded in recognition of their great performance and progress achieved in this workshop. Then there was a raffle with 3 prizes, organized by Mrs. Yamile Peña, to which we thank for this great idea that all participants liked.
Finally, we proceeded to share some snacks, food and drinks that the students brought to share with their classmates. It was a very pleasant afternoon to share in community.
Let’s look at this end of workshop as a beginning of a new stage, in which we have all learned and developed a little more our artistic skills.
