In class today we had the opportunity to share some thoughts and conclusions on each personal experience before and after this photography workshop. One student said: “before this workshop, I thought the photography was just to register events and parties, but now I have a different view of what photography is about.” “I had the opportunity to visit different communities in New York, I really liked, because I learned a lot from a culture that is totally different than mine.”
Another student said: “I have had the opportunity to leave my own neighborhood to places I’ve never been before, I loved that experience!” Each student shared positive experiences about taking their self-portrait. They realized that it wasn’t an easy task, but took it as a challenge and eventually made a great photographic work: sharing some important aspects of their personality using images, colors, and light.
Then students wrote about their thoughts on a piece of paper due we’ll have a publication based on this photography workshop and it will be distributed in our exhibition at the Queens Public Library LIC August 30th. Finally, we talked about our field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC-Manhattan) for our next class.
En la clase de hoy tuvimos la oportunidad de compartir algunas reflexiones y conclusiones sobre cada experiencia personal antes y después de este taller de fotografía. Un estudiante dijo: “antes de su taller, pensé que la foto era sólo para registro de eventos y fiestas, pero ahora tengo una visión diferente de lo que se trata la Fotografía”.
Otro estudiante dijo: “Tuve la oportunidad de visitar diferentes comunidades en Nueva York, me gustó mucho, porque he aprendido mucho de una cultura que es totalmente diferente a la mía”. “He tenido la oportunidad de salir de mi propio barrio a lugares que nunca he estado antes, me encanto esa experiencia!”
Cada estudiante compartió experiencias positivas relacionadas acerca de tomar su autorretrato. Se dieron cuenta de que no era una tarea fácil, pero lo tomaron como un reto y, finalmente hicieron un gran trabajo fotográfico/personal: compartiendo algunos aspectos importantes acerca de su personalidad usando imágenes, colores y luz.
Después los estudiantes escribieron acerca de sus reflexiones en un pedazo de papel, debido vamos a tener una publicación sobre este taller de fotografía y se distribuirá en nuestra exposición en la biblioteca pública de Queens LIC. Finalmente conversamos sobre nuestra visita al Museo Metropolitano de Arte (Manhattan NYC) como salida de grupo para nuestra próxima clase.
