Este martes New New Yorkers pudieron ver un corto documental sobre la muy relevante fotógrafa mexicana Graciela Iturbide, el título del documental: Más de mil palabras. Durante el corto, la fotógrafa se explayo y habló de cómo convertirse en un mejor fotógrafo, así como de la importancia del concepto detrás de la obra.
El documental fue un gran ejemplo que todo el fotógrafo debe de tener en cuenta antes de hacer clic en la maquina fotográfica. Luego de analizar y comentar ese documentar pasamos a revisar el trabajo de Manuel Alvarez Bavón y la relación tradicional entre el uso de la luz y la forma, que ha sido una constante fuente de estudio y de conocimiento para la fotografía. Destacando en clase y enfatizando además el estudio de los pintores a partir de Rembrandt y su uso de la luz, explicando el término que se ha generado: “Rembrandt Light”.
This Tuesday at LIC Library, participants got to see a short documentary about the important Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbide : More than thousand words. There She talked about becoming a better photographer, and the importance of the concept behind the work. The documentary in Spanish with English subtitles was a great example of all the photographer needs to consider before clicking. We also reviewed the work ofManuel Alvarez Bavo and the traditional relation between the use of light and how it has been a source of knowledge for photographer to study painters starting with Rembrandt and Rembrandt Light, admiring paintings in order to see and manage the effect of the lighting. It was brought to the conversation the term Social Practice and we discussed briefly the award winner documentary: Born in Brothels.
